KRK rotary dryer (standard type)
Pulp/Chip/Sheet former / Dryer
  • No.2575-I

This dryer is used for drying in the paper handmaking process. You can perform continuous drying simply by placing paper on the specimen conveyor belt. A heater is built in the dryer to heat the drum surface to a certain temperature. The movement of the specimen conveyor belt rotates the heated drum. Then the drum winds up the specimen and discharges the dried paper sheet after a half-turn. This dryer is designed to have thick walls in order to increase the thermal storage in the rotating drum, eliminating temperature drop and dispersion in temperature distribution that could otherwise occur due to feed of wet paper. This design also effectively reduces differences in migration depending on the location of the wet paper. A safety mechanism is incorporated to keep the drive motor running until the temperature drops to a certain level after completing tests.
Rotary dryer for high temperture operation

Like the type I model, this dryer dries wet paper placed on canvas in a Yankee dryer-like manner. The drum surface can attain up to 180°C so that the drying time can be reduced to rationalize operating hours. An automatic safety mechanism is incorporated to keep the motor running until the surface temperature drops to a certain level after completing tests.
Large size rotary dryer
Pulp/Chip/Sheet former / Dryer

This dryer dries wet mats in a Yankee dryer-like manner by holding the mats with canvas. It works well when continuously drying a large volume of sheets. To make it easy to mount wet paper onto the conveyor belt, it is designed to allow paper feed from the front side. The rotation of the cylindrical drum can be changed to allow adjustment of the drying time as desired. It also enables polishing of the paper being dried through the mechanism in which paper sheets are pressed against the rotating drum of the squeeze roll when a pressure up to 500N/cm is applied on the rotating drum. With this dryer, it is also easy to replace the canvas as you can disengage the fastener at the joint section. After completing operation, the electrical circuit is automatically disconnected when a certain length of time has elapsed.

The purpose of the drying process is to dry and adjust humidity in the final process of paper sheet making. As pressed onto the drying plate, paper sheets are set between drying rings, stacked, and then placed inside the equipment. When exposed to wind from the fan, water in the paper sheets evaporates. Optionally, it is also possible to incorporate an electric heater for faster drying.
Canadian standard freeness tester
Pulp/Chip/Sheet former / Freeness
  • No.2580-A
  • [JIS]P-8121-2012
  • [TAPPI]T227om-94
  • [ISO]5267-2-2001
Beating pulp fiber provides effects such as fibrillation, generation of fines, reduction of fiber in length and volume, etc. depending on the beating method and time. As a result, various physical characteristics of the paper are affected in addition to the fluidity and drainage performance on wire cloth. Beating has a significant role in the paper manufacturing process, and the resulting drainage performance needs to be evaluated. Some of commonly used evaluation methods involve use of a Canadian standard tester and Schopper-Riegler freeness tester. In those methods, a certain amount of suspension liquid is filtered through a screen plate or wire cloth, and the white water is sampled from the funnel side tube, whose amount is measured and used to determine the beatability. This tester uses a screen plate for filtering suspension liquid and is provided with a cock to be operated to start drainage. Thus, it eliminates differences in the result when different operators are involved, yielding high accuracy.

The very heavy drainage cylinder of the conventional tester has been a considerable burden on the operator. Unlike the conventional type, this tester is made of plastic to achieve a lesser weight. It also has handles for operating the upper and lower covers. Thus, it achieves reduction of the workload of the operator.

Schopper-Riegler freeness tester
Pulp/Chip/Sheet former / Freeness
  • No.2582
  • [JIS]P-8121-2012
  • [TAPPI]
  • [ISO]5267-1-1999
A Schopper-Riegler freeness tester is commonly used to quickly and accurately test the beatability of pulp that is associated with the pulp performance. This tester consists of a drainage cylinder in the upper section and a measuring funnel in the bottom section. On the border of the two sections, a specified type of wire cloth is installed. Inside the drainage cylinder, a conic valve is installed, which is operated using a pulley. The measuring funnel is cone-shaped, beneath which a small drain is provided. Another drain is also provided on its side, and an air pipe is provided above the drain. Each section is fabricated precisely to the given reference dimensions. The tester is retained on a stable base provided with a leveling device.
Laboratory floatator
Pulp/Chip/Sheet former / Floatation
  • No.2583
  • [JIS]
  • [TAPPI]JTAPPI?39-2000
  • [ISO]
This floatator is needed in the deinking process as well as a high-concentration pulp breaker in the DIP and paper recycling processes. With this tester, the principle of the floating selection method is applied to deinking. Carbon black, vehicle, etc. are lipophilic and are deposited on foams. As foams float on the liquid surface, the inking substances are removed with foams. The floatation method has become a common method of deinking as it is advantageous in that the amount of fiber loss is minor and the water consumption is limited. Rotations of the impeller cause suction of air and agitation at the same time to generate micro air bubbles.
It ensures a stable pulp surface, no part of it remains stagnant. The operator can visually check the pulp state by seeing through the stainless-framed glass specimen tank. The impeller shaft is made of stainless steel. Steplessly variable speed control is enabled. A suction air volume adjustment cock is provided for adjusting air bubble generation/termination and conditioning as needed. The froth layer discharged from the specimen tank is received in a separate retainer for measurement of the total amount.

Pulp classifier (4-tank standard type)
Pulp/Chip/Sheet former / Pulp classifier
  • No.2590
  • [JIS]P-8207-2009
  • [TAPPI]
  • [ISO]
This tester readily screens pulp fibers through screens into groups by fiber length. It consists of four screening tanks with wire cloth of different mesh sizes and an injection tank. As water and pulp are poured into the tanks together at a certain flow rate, fibers run along on the water flow to be screened into the four tanks serially placed on steps. Agitators are provided in order to prevent fibers from being deposited on the screens. The component elements are coupled together with a V-shaped belt, simplifying the mechanism and controlling noise.
