This is an improved version of the square sheet machine, for alleviating workload of the operator for couching. The couch roll is placed behind the water cylinder of sheet machine. It is taken out before couching. Place the roll to vertically move it by the up-down lever. The roll is slowly placed down on the wet mat. At the end of the paper making, the roll is returned to the storage. Since it is not necessary to lift the couch roll by hand, it is very effective to prepare many sheets.

The paper sheet handmade according to the method given in the ISO standard is significantly different in formation, fiber orientation and strength from the sheet made by Fourdrinier machine (practical machine). The No.2558-I was developed to provide a paper-making condition similar to the practical machine in the dewatering process. The white water recovery device recovers fine fibers and filler, and the suction device sucks away the water at a negative pressure. A wide range of paper-making conditions is available. It is also possible to make paper as with the standard square machine. With this machine, the couching operation is automated, alleviating workload of the operator.

As a solution for these difficulties, we have developed this labor-saving machine. It automatically performs steps including opening/closing paper making tank, water feed, agitation, discharge and couching, thereby alleviating workload of the operator and enabling uniform sheet making.

The suspension liquid is rotated by the motorized agitator blade to apply shear force to the specimen, thereby simulating more faithfully the specimen behavior on the Fourdrinier sheet machine. Easy operation with the pneumatic up-and-down system of the agitator and drainage by push-button. Handmaking of a large amount of sheets can be done without fatigue.

The conventional process of manual press operation requires operator attendance all through the process, creating a challenge for labor saving in the handmade paper adjustment process. This press eliminates the disadvantage by introducing automatic opration with higher workability contributing to labor saving in the process significantly. When in operation, the pressure plate is operated to raise and lower the plate by air diaphragm. It is automatically performing the press process according to ISO standard. The first stage press gradually compresses the specimen in takes about 20 seconds for pressure to rise from zero to 410kPa and holds 410kPa for 5minutes. The second stage press rapidly compresses the specimen, holds 410kPa for 2minutes and then automatically release pressure.

A plunger-type pump is employed, which sends stored glycerin to the rubber diaphragm at the press section when the pump handle is operated. The diaphragm then pushes up the lower pressure board to compress the specimen. Improvement has been made with the stability while applying pressure to achieve squeezing with a higher pressure.
